In court: James Gandolfini’s watch allegedly stolen by paramedic on his deathbed

Cape Town – A $3000 watch James Gandolfini was wearing the day he died was reportedly stolen by the paramedic who helped the actor as he lay having a heart attack.

The former Sopranos actor died after suffering a cardiac arrest in June 2013 while on holiday with his wife, Deborah Lin and their now 16-year-old son Michael in Rome.

The Daily Telegraph reports prosecutors claim that paramedic Claudio Bevilacqua, who was one of the paramedics attending to James on the scene, swiped the actor’s Rolex as he fought for his life.

The 42-year-old paramedic was not present in court on Monday for the start of the trail and so did not enter a plea. The trial was reportedly adjourned until November.

According to MailOnline two of the hotel staff members noticed the watch was missing, but his family later filed an insurance form stating it had been stolen.
