It looks like Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik's split is official

Los Angeles - Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have reportedly split up.

The 21-year-old model and the 23-year-old singer are said to have called time on their seven-month romance although friends believe it is likely that they will reconcile.

A source told E! News: "Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow. It's all very unclear what's going on between them now. They been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along.

"Gigi is really sad about this, though, and in a way would like to work it out. It's more about that constant contact with Zayn that she misses and they did get very close."

The pair have reportedly been off and on recently and had a huge fight at Gigi's birthday party in Los Angeles in April.

An insider explained: "During her birthday they were fighting. They have broken up and got back together a few times."

Although they dated for seven months, Zayn and Gigi only made their red carpet debut last month when they attended the 2016 Met Gala.

The Pillowtalk hitmaker and the model matched in metallic outfits as they walked the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for the 'Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology' bash.

Zayn and Gigi's split is sure to come as a surprise to fans as in April it was claimed that Gigi was planning to give up her life in New York to set up home with her boyfriend in Los Angeles because she couldn't bear being apart from him.

A source said: "Zayn wants Gigi to move in with him and she says she now feels 100 per cent ready.

"She loves her New York City apartment and wanted to be sure Zayn was serious before moving to LA, but she's madly in love with him and can't stand to be apart so she knows it's the right move."

Following their split, Gigi was spotted out with Kylie Jenner in Hollywood on Thursday night.
