Jennifer Lawrence admits she felt lost after splitting up with boyfriend Nicholas Hoult

Los Angeles - Jennifer Lawrence questioned who she was after splitting from Nicholas Hoult.

The 25-year-old actress admits she felt left adrift once she finished filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 - the final installment of the fantasy franchise - around the same time as she split from her former boyfriend in August 2014.

She told ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer: "These movies have been my life for so long and they had to come first in everything.

"I was also in a relationship with somebody for five years and we broke up around the same time I wrapped the movies. Being 24 was this whole year of, 'Who am I without these movies? Who am I without this man?'"

Meanwhile, the Joy star - who was most recently dating Coldplay's Chris Martin - "definitely" wants to have children in future, but is unsure whether she'll get married.

She said: "I don't know if I ever will get married. I'm OK with that.

"I don't feel like I need anything to complete me ... I don't really plan on getting married, I might. I definitely want to be a mother."

Jennifer also spoke about her recent essay, in which she discussed how she and Amy Adams were paid less than their male American Hustle co-stars, insisting the gender pay gap is an important issue that people "need" to talk about.

She said: "I felt like I had to say something, because we need to talk about it.

"My question to myself was 'Why am I not asking for it?'

"I know that I've always kind of carried a habit of submissiveness with an idea of that makes me more likable.

"On average, women are paid 21 percent less than men ... We do get judged more, it's just something that is intrinsic and, um, I would love to see changed."
