Los Angeles - Khloe Kardashian was spared a spell in rehab thanks to her sister Kourtney.
The 31-year-old reality TV star has admitted her party lifestyle spiraled out of control following the death of her father Robert Kardashian Sr in 2003, and she relied on older sister Kourtney for help.
She recalled: "I was 19 at the time, and to say I didn't handle his death well is an understatement.
"I didn't turn to drugs, but I certainly drowned my sorrows in drink, and the partying soon got out of hand. I was underage and behaving recklessly in clubs and at private parties."
In her new tell-all book, Strong Looks Better Naked, Khloe admitted her heavy drinking caused her to pile on the pounds.
She wrote: "During this period, I became aware of how easy it is to become a binge drinker...I see pictures of myself at the time and I was so bloated that I look like I'm 45 years old!"
Khloe admitted Kourtney ensured she didn't end up in rehab by giving her a job at the family's Dash store.
She explained: "I didn't end up in rehab ... because Kourtney put her foot down and forced me to take control of my life, but I probably came close."
