Kim Kardashian West had a 'really tough' pregnancy

Los Angeles - Kim Kardashian West had a "really tough" pregnancy.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star reportedly suffered from placenta accreta, where the placenta remains attached to the womb, again when she gave birth to her son Saint on Saturday.

A source told PEOPLE magazine: "She had a really tough birth because of the issues with her placenta."

And according to E! News, all the complications during her second pregnancy led to the chosen moniker for her newborn.

An insider told the entertainment website Saint was picked as it is very similar to saying he is "a blessing," especially "because she had such a difficult pregnancy."

Meanwhile, the 35-year-old television personality - who already has two-year-old daughter North with husband Kanye West - previously revealed she may have to have a hysterectomy after she gave birth to her son because of the condition.

She shared: "With the issues I had last time, my risk of having preclampsia and placenta accreta are increased and there's not a whole lot I can do to prevent it, so my anxiety is a little high leading up to my delivery.

"In a very rare case, I might need a hysterectomy after delivery if my condition is severe enough, but luckily my doctor doesn't think this will happen. So as time goes on, I am stressing out less and trying to go with the flow."
