Cape Town - After months of keeping the world guessing, reality TV star Kylie Jenner finally revealed that she is the proud mom of a baby girl!
The 20-year-old first-time parent announced the news on Instagram on Sunday night. In the post, she confirms that her baby with rapper Travis Scott (25) was born on 1 February 2018.
“I understand you’re’ used to me bringing you along on my journeys,” she said in the statement to fans, apologising for keeping them in the dark. “My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world.”
Still, there was no way the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star wasn’t going to divulge more details. Along with the announcement, she shared a few more titbits about her journey to motherhood in a sweet video that documented her pregnancy titled: “To our daughter”.
Although we don’t know the baby’s name yet, a few more details about her super-secret pregnancy were revealed.
Here’s what we know so far:
1. The newborn is perfectly healthy
Baby Jenner-Scott was born weighing 3,8 kg.
2. Kylie’s best friend and assistant were the first to find out that she was pregnant
In Kylie’s pregnancy video, Jordyn Woods and assistant Victoria Villarroel tell the story of how they found out that Kylie was pregnant.
“One day I was in your mom’s bathroom with her and she took a little test,” Jordyn reveals. “She was sitting on the tub and I was sitting on the counter and then she passed it to me and said, ‘Surprise!’.”
3. Travis was with her throughout the pregnancy
Contrary to reports that Travis, who started dating Kylie in April last year, was MIA during the pregnancy, he can be seen in the video going to check-ups with Kylie, cooing over sonograms and excitedly showing his friends his precious baby girl.
Kylie is also filmed showing Travis’ family pictures of the baby at 25 weeks! And they were even present for one of her ultra sounds, with momager Kris Jenner.
When rumours of Kylie’s pregnancy first emerged, an insider told People Travis was over the moon.
"He’s been so affectionate and protective of Kylie since they found out. He can’t wait to be a dad."
4. Kylie wasn’t hiding out
While she may not have been ready to share the news with the world, Kylie wasn’t holed up in her room to avoid the prying eyes of the press. She was filmed outside taking pictures of her baby bump, getting take-aways and even out and about with Travis in different locations throughout the nine months.
Kylie said she kept her fans in the dark about her pregnancy because she didn’t want to go through this phase of her life in the limelight.
She felt she needed to take on "the role of a lifetime" in a stress-free and healthy way.
5. Khloe and Kris were present for the birth
Apart from baby daddy Travis, sister Khloe, who is also pregnant, and mom Kris Jenner were there for the birth of the baby.
6. Kylie has wanted to be a mom since she was 15
Many of Kylie’s closest friends, like Jordyn Woods and Anastasia Karanikolaou said they think Kylie will make the best mom.
They also shared that Kylie had wanted to become a mother for a very long time, making the baby announcement all the more heartwarming.
She’s previously said on KUWTK that she felt "like 30 is too late" to start a family. On an episode of I Am Cait, she stated that she wanted to be a "young mom". Her own mother Kris was just 23 when she gave birth to her eldest Kourtney.
