Lily Collins pens open letter forgiving her famous father Phil Collins

Cape Town – Lily Collins has penned an open letter addressed to her music legend father Phil Collins, forgiving him for never being the best father.

The aspiring actress – who received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Warren Beatty’s Rules Don’t Apply – opened up about growing up with a famous father in her debut book, Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me.

In extracts published by Daily Mail Lily reveals she has forgiven her dad. She wrote: “I forgive you for not always being there when I needed and for not being the dad I expected.

“I forgive the mistakes you made. And although it may seem like it’s too late, it’s not. There’s still so much time to move forward.”

Phil has fathered five children from three wives. Lily is his only daughter to come from his ex-wife Jill Tavelman.

Lily continues to talk about accepting her past and coming to terms with the anger she festered towards her father.

The 27-year-old also opens up about her battle with eating disorders which she links to Phil’s third divorce, from Orianne Cevey.
