LOOK! Zayn Malik’s boy band rebellion is perfectly captured in Complex magazine

Cape Town – Zayn Malik has made his rebellion against his boy band look pretty obvious but Complex magazine just perfectly made sense of it all.

The newly solo artist has changed his hair colour, grown and styled his beard and cursed his way through the lyrics of his songs since leaving 1D and now we can finally understand why.

In an interview with Complex, Zayn admits he "rebelled" against the strict restrictions that were placed on himself and his former bandmates over the way they looked.

He said: "There were certain restrictions in terms of the way that we could come outside of that young teen boy look.

"Mainly my beard, honestly. I wasn't allowed to keep it. Eventually, when I got older, I rebelled against it, and decided to keep it anyway.

"I also wanted to dye my hair when I was in the band, but I wasn't allowed to."

And the Pillow Talk hitmaker revealed the main reason for leaving was his lack of "authenticity".

He said: "That was something that was always underlying, and ended up as the main factor of me leaving in the end. It was about denying the authenticity of who I was, and what I enjoyed about music, and why I got into it."

"I believe success follows authenticity. People see through fake shit." —@ZAYN Link in bio.
