Mariah Carey is preparing for the wedding of the year!

Los Angeles - Mariah Carey wants to get married this summer.

The Hero hitmaker got engaged to boyfriend James Packer last week and though they are still legally wed to their estranged spouses, Nick Cannon and Erica Packer, she is already making plans for a huge ceremony in Europe.

A source said: "Mariah is just beyond excited right now.

"She has wanted to be his wife pretty much since they first got together, and has already started to plan what type of wedding she wants to have.

"Mariah wants the wedding to be this coming summer and she said she would really love it if they could get married where they first fell in love, in the Mediterranean region.

"She wants this wedding to be the biggest and most expensive wedding that the world has ever seen!"

Meanwhile the newly-engaged couple are leasing a luxury home for $250k per month.

Mariah and James have rented a mansion in The Oaks, a gated community in Calabasas, California and have taken on the lease "with an option to purchase", according to TMZ.

They 18 000 square foot house also features a sauna and a gym and is set over one acre.

Mariah, 45, had reportedly been hoping the 48-year-old businessman would pop the question on Valentine's Day but couldn't believe it when he pulled out an $8m ring last week.

The source told RadarOnline.com: "She was blown away.

"She knew that he was going to propose to her, but he told her that he could not wait any longer."
