Papers filed for The Rock to run for president in 2020

Cape Town – It looks as though Dwayne The Rock Johnson may actually run for president in 2020.

In an interview with GQ magazine, published in May, The Rock hinted that he has his sights set on the White House by saying that a presidential run is a “real possibility.”

He also shared what his top priorities as president would be.

Now, according to Federal Election Commision records, paperwork has formally been filed with the FEC by a campaign committee on The Rock’s behalf.

Run the Rock 2020, the name of the organisation, was filed by 26-year-old Kenton Tilford under a West Virginia address on Sunday.

According to Tilford’s LinkedIn profile he is “an experienced political writer and researcher with a background in field organising.”

In an email interview with CNN, Tilford said he had been discussing Run the Rock 2020 with his friend for some time but decided to file the papers because “America is incredibly divided.”

He added: “I believe we desperately need a leader who can unite us and not just pander to a small base of supporters.”

Tilford’s ultimate goal is to “show Mr. Johnson that his incredible popularity as an actor and public figure can translate into politics seamlessly. And I hope it influences him to take the plunge and run in 2020.”

While The Rock has not yet commented on Tilford’s efforts nor confirmed that he will in fact run for president a tweet may confirm his knowledge of everything.

Two Broke Girls actress Kat Dennings tweeted the Baywatch actor saying she plans to be just as muscular as The Rock when she votes for him in 2020.

The Rock replied saying: “That's why you're a BAMF and always one of my favs. We'll be the most ripped, knitting squad ever.”
