Prince Philip admitted to hospital

London - British media reported that Prince Philip would not attend the Queen's Speech on Tuesday.

According to the reports the British royal was admitted to hospital for the treatment of an infection.

Buckingham Palace reported Prince Philip's treatment is related to a pre-existing condition and has described his admission as a "precautionary measure."

The palace added that the Duke of Edinburgh, 96, is good spirits after being admitted to the hospital.

The Queen is scheduled to open parliament on Tuesday which marks the formal start of the parliamentary year.
