Cape Town – In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Rob Schneider has also come forward claiming to have been sexually harassed by an unnamed director.
Numerous celebrities have spoken out against the disgraced producer’s actions, including Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie and Meryl Streep.
On Tuesday, Terry Crews revealed in a Twitter thread that he was sexually assaulted by a “Hollywood executive”. Now, Rob Schneider is joining the conversation saying, it happens to men as well and the predators aren’t only powerful men in Hollywood.
In a video, obtained by TMZ, the Grown Ups actor explains how when he was still new in the acting industry a “gross director” – who has since died - approached him in a hotel room dressed in a bathrobe.
“I was in a hotel room, I didn’t think it was going to be a weird situation because it was a famous director...and next thing you know he comes out in a bathrobe and sits in a chair asking me to crawl on the ground and then to crawl up toward him.”
Schneider adds that he then realised something wasn’t right and “got the hell out of there.”
The 53-year-old goes on to reveal that at the time he didn’t think to call the police or tell his agent about it but was disgusted by it and decided to share his story now to emphasise that it happens to so many actors and goes unnoticed.
