WATCH: Here's a video of Channing Tatum riding a horse for his birthday

Los Angeles - Channing Tatum received the "best birthday gift ever" from his wife Jenna Dewan Tatum - a horse.

The star turned 36 on Tuesday and couldn't contain his delight at receiving the majestic brown animal as a present from his spouse, with whom he has two-year-old daughter Everly.

Taking to his Instagram account to share a series of photographs of the new addition to their family, whom he has named Cajun, the star captioned a picture of the horse saddled up and grazing beside their trailer: "Best birthday gift ever from my wifey."

And alongside a sweet video in which the actor's face was covered in bright paint, he wrote: "Braveheart paint by Evie, new rescue horse named Cajun on a sunset ride.(sic)"

Meanwhile, Jenna wished her spouse a happy birthday on her own Instagram page with a loving message.

The 35-year-old beauty described the Magic Mike star - who she married in 2009 - as her "lifer" and quoted an ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, to describe how "deeply" in love she is with her husband.

She gushed: "'To love someone deeply gives you strength. Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage.' - Lao Tzu. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LIFER.(sic)"
