Cape Town - Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat down with Sky News for their first ever public interview, not only as a couple but as an engaged couple.

On Monday morning Kensington Palace announced that Prince Harry had asked for his actress girlfriend's hand in marriage and that she said yes.

Following the announcement, the pair made their first appearance as an engaged couple at The Sunken Gardens at Kensington Palace.

Harry and Meghan sat down with Sky News on Monday evening to share details about everything from their first date to how Harry proposed.

It was previously reported that the couple met through mutual friends, Meghan has now confirmed that while they met through a mutual friend "it was a blind date" and after their first meeting they immediately made plans to meet again.

Another big question everyone has wanted an answer to is how Harry popped the question.

"It happened a few weeks ago here at our cottage [at Kensington Palace] and it was just a standard, typical night for us," Harry explained.

Meghan added that they were roasting a chicken when Harry got down on one knee and proposed. "It was such an amazing surprise and just so sweet and natural and so romantic."
