Cape Town – South African blogger, Theodora Lee, is one of just two South Africans nominated for a Kids Choice award in the favourite blogger (Africa) category.
Lee, whose brother is well-known YouTuber Caspar Lee, was totally surprised by the international nomination.
“It was such a surprise and it feels amazing. It’s so great that Africa is getting some recognition,” Lee told Channel24.
The 24-year-old blogger is nominated alongside fellow South African blogger, Aisha Baker.
“I don’t know if I will be going to the actual award show yet. I just found out that I was nominated. The rest they’re keeping secret for now.”
Although the blonde beauty has been publishing online since her teenage years it’s only about a year-and-a-half ago that she took the blogging side of things more serious.
“I’ve used all platforms available and have documented most of my youth online. I even used MySpace back in the day. It’s great to look back now and have a type of digital diary that captures your teenage years.”
According to Lee her blog can best be described using the following four words: “Advice, fun, happy and quirky" - four words that also perfectly capture the bubbly personality of this local online star.
The part-time copywriter says she does rope in her famous brother for help sometimes, especially when it comes to making YouTube videos. “He does help me out sometimes. But I also help him when he needs it. It works both ways. I’m lucky to be in the position where he does something with me and it brings in a lot of clicks. It’s what you do with those opportunities that really matter.”
Lee’s favourite social media platform at the moment is Instagram which she uses to share special moments with her followers. “It’s a very positive platform that focuses on the good and I like that a lot.
“I’ve tried Snapchatting and I get really into it but then after a few days I forget to update it again,” she laughs.
