Cape Town – YouTube star and singer Austin Jones was arrested on Monday night on child pornography charges.
E! News confirms the 24-year-old is charged with two counts of production of child pornography and will appear in court for a detention hearing on Wednesday.
The Chicago Sun Times reports Jones will be kept in custody as he is a "risk to the community and there's a danger he'll flee."
According to court documents, obtained by E! News, Jones – who has over 500 000 subscribers on his YouTube channel – was communicating with two female victims over Facebook in August 2016 and May 2017.
The criminal complaint describes Jones requesting one of the girls to send him sexually explicit videos to prove how big a fan of him she is.
Jones was stopped by Customs and Border Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago and taken into custody where he admitted to the charges.
The acapella pop music cover singer faces 15 years in prison if he is convicted.
This is not the first time Jones has been in trouble for requesting things from girls. In 2015 he issued an apology on Facebook for lying about his age to ask for "twerking" videos from underage girls.
