This is terrible news ahead of the start of Survivor SA: Santa Carolina next week.

Peter Jones (49), the creative director of the show, was injured in a car accident on December 1. The accident occurred while travelling from the set to the crew's accommodation on the island of Santa Carolina in Mozambique. Jones was then air-lifted to a hospital in Johannesburg where he later died from his injuries on December 10.

Times Live reports that he apparently fell off of a moving vehicle. In an October interview with Kim Foxon, Jones told of how he had shattered his skull and broken other facial bones from a car accident that happened while working in Zambia.  Who knew the film industry was so dangerous?

It's strange that his death only makes the news now, almost a month later. Why was it kept so hush-hush? Hmmm...

Survivor SA: Santa Carolina starts on M-Net on Wednesday 20 Jan at 19h30.

The creative director of Survivor SA: Santa Carolina has died.
