Veteran Egoli actress Hermien Dommisse dies

If you watched Egoli from day one, you'll know the stern Monika Vorster; a soapie maven that compared to the likes of Stephanie Forrester or Madel Terblanche. The actress who played Monika, Hermien Dommisse has passed away at the age of 94.

Hermien fell ill earlier this week before passing away in her sleep on Wednesday (24 March) night. She died at Alphen Lodge frail care centre where she had been residing for the last few years.

Hermien may be known to us primarily because of Egoli, but she was also an accomplished film and stage actress and starred in well-known local movies such as Die Kandidaat (1968), Jannie Totsiens (1970) and The Englishwoman (1989).

Hermien would have turned 95 this year on 27 October. RIP Hermien.
