Actor Michael Clarke Duncan, nominated for an Academy Award for his portrayal of a death row inmate in the 1999 drama The Green Mile, died in a hospital on Monday, less than eight weeks after suffering a heart attack, a spokesperson said. He was 54.

The following users sent in their tributes:

Lee Ntshabele writes: "I remember him with his deep voice. The industry has lost so much talent. Im trying to think of the person with voice like him I can't think of any. May his soul rest in peace. He will be dearly missed."

Hamith Hansjar writes: "Deepest sympathies to the Duncan family. Micheal Clark Duncan's performances was nothing short of excellence in the entertainment world. He would be sadly missed."

Muzi Mlambo writes: "Rest in peace big man. Thanks for your role in the Green Mile."

Allison Knight writes: "I am deeply saddened by the news of Michael Clark Duncan’s passing. I first saw him on Oprah and absolutely fell in love with him in the Green Mile. He was a gentle man, with the biggest heart. I’m sure everyone that knew him personally will feel the gap that used to fill. My deepest sympathy to all friends and family. As a fan this is a blow, can’t imagine how you guys must be feeling, but please know that you’re in our prayers."
