In a ceremony much longer than Les Misérables and Django Unchained combined, Seth MacFarlane and an entire creative team managed to completely butcher the entertainment industry's most prestegious awards show with the most long-winded Oscar ceremony ever.

Apart from the cringeworthy quips, lame jokes and eye-rolling sarcasm, the 85th Annual Academy Awards hit rock bottom when Seth took to the stage and left many asking: What were the Oscar producers thinking?

Between the awkward and the awesome, we dissect the ceremony and bring you the best and the worst moments of the Oscars in GIF form:

1. Seth MacFarlane's opening skit that lasted longer than Kim Kardashian's marriage:

And it didn't stop on the account of millions of viewers yawning out of boredom, including various awkward dance numbers:

2. Then... Charlize Theron and Channing Tatum showed Seth how it's done:

3. But this didn't stop Seth. He continued with his crude musical numbers:

Luckily, Jennifer Lawrence offered some cool points to save Seth from ruining the Oscars during this musical number:

4. After the opening scene was done, Jack Nicholson illustrated how we were all feeling at that stage of the Oscars:

5. So, after what seemed like years too many, the first awards were handed out. This too, dragged on...

6. And one thing was sure - those darn envelopes were designed only to open with brute force. Almost every presenter commented on this, including Samuel L Jackson:

7. While some presenters had it all, brought their swagger and made us laugh, some just seemed out of it and emotionally uninvolved. Let's not name any names (*cough* Kristen Stewart)...

8. Then the cast of Les Misérables appeared on stage to perform I Dreamed a Dream... Of course Anne Hathaway had to just steal the show with her screeching voice and mousy attire. Which of course ruined the performance:

9. But then Adele received her award and called everybody awesome. For a moment, faith had been restored in the Oscars:

10. And, when Jennifer Lawrence won we were all like:

Then, while floating up the stairs to the stage, J-Law had a tumble:

And she was all like:

BEST. OSCARS. MOMENT. EVER.

All in all - this year's Oscars ceremony receives a F on its report card.

From atrocious host Seth, unnatural presenters, long-winded speeches and an even longer ceremony, I can safely say the creative team behind the Oscars needs to be thrown a lifeline before it sinks faster than the Titanic.

In the words of William Shatner during the opening ceremony:

Better luck next year, guys!
