Unsurprisingly, it was The Twilight Saga's night, nabbing the top four awards. And yes, we're counting Best Kiss as a pretty important award, if only to see awkward stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart awkwardly accept the award before über-awkwardly teasing the Twihard audience with an almost-kiss. We saw them do it at last year's MTV Movie Awards, it came as no surprise when they repeated the trick this year.
These kids could learn a thing or two from Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, who won the Best Kiss award in 2005 for The Notebook, providing the most classic MTV Movie Awards moment ever:
But the evening actually belonged to two Hollywood veterans. Tom Cruise made jaws drop when he appeared in a pre-taped opening sequence as his Tropic Thunder character, the bald and hairy-chested Les Grossman, and performed a song-and-dance with Jennifer Lopez. You've got to watch this:
Sandra Bullock received a standing ovation when she accepted her Generation Award, presented to her by her most recent co-stars Bradley Cooper and Betty White, as well as Scarlett Johansson, who was there to stand in for husband Ryan Reynolds, probably. It was a fitting tribute to the Oscar winner whose wreck of a marriage to Jesse James has become tabloid fodder over the last couple of months. And Sandy's sort of getting back at her cheating ex by kissing lots of gorgeous women at awards. Meryl Streep got a taste first, so Scarlett thought she'd get in on the action too. Watch their lip-locking moment here.
