4 movies to catch on the circuit this week

Johannesburg - City Press has put together a list of movies to catch in cinemas this week. This list also includes a movie you can catch at an independent cinema. 

There's something for everyone from drama and romance to a musical and a gangster flick.

1. Moonlight

This story of two black, gay lovers is a film of staggering beauty – a collection of character studies that gets under the skin of manhood.

2. Live by Night

A disappointing effort by director and lead Ben Affleck. This dreary crime story drags on without much payoff. – Gayle Edmunds

3. La La Land

Up for a number of Oscars, this musical follows a young couple trying to follow their dreams in Los Angeles. It’s thoughtful and well choreographed, but not particularly memorable. – Grethe Kemp
