5 fresh flicks in local cinemas this weekend

Cape Town – The day Marvel fans have been waiting for is finally here, Thor: Ragnarak hits cinemas this weekend.

Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. His quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.

If you're not that into Thor there's also a biopic starring Chadwick Boseman as civil rights pioneer Thurgood Marshall, a political Irish drama, the seventh instalment of horror franchise Saw and an award-winning local film.

Here are the 5 new films releasing in SA:

Movie: Thor: Ragnarok

Movie: Jigsaw

Our rating: 2/5

Short review: What makes Jigsaw work is the cast who really sell the story - other than that it's just run of the mill Saw.
