Los Angeles - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has kicked off a string of DC Comics adaptations from Warner Bros slated to swarm theatres in the next five years and give Marvel a run for its money.
Here's a rundown of the planned releases:
1. Suicide Squad (US release: 5 August, 2016)
Antiheroes rule the all-villain lineup in David Ayer's film. Its stars include Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
2. Wonder Woman (US release: 23 June, 2017)
Gal Gadot stars in the first movie to give Wonder Woman the spotlight. Patty Jenkins Monster directs the rare female-helmed superhero movie.
3. Justice League part one (US release: 17 November, 2017)
Zack Snyder returns to direct the DC Comics answer to The Avengers in a team-up film that will bring together Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and others.
4. The Flash (US release: 16 March, 2018)
Ezra Miller (who has a cameo in Batman v Superman) stars as the speediest of superheroes in the stand-alone film directed by Seth Grahame-Smith.
5. Aquaman (US release: 27 July, 2018)
Jason Momoa stars as the trident-wielding underwater hero, with James Wan (The Conjuring) directing.
6. Shazam (US release: 5 April, 2019)
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is on board not to star as the title character, but as the villain Black Adam.
7. Justice League part two (US release: 14 June, 2019)
More superheroes, united again.
8. Cyborg (US release: 3 April, 2020)
The relatively unknown actor Ray Fisher, who doesn't have a feature yet under his belt, has been tapped to star as this robotic Justice League hero, a member of the Teen Titans.
9. Green Lantern Corps (US release: 19 June, 2020)
After the failure of 2011's Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds, this new attempt will rope in several Green Lanterns, an intergalactic police force.
