Los Angeles - Aaron Paul has signed up to star in a Need for Speed movie.
The actor - best known for his Emmy-winning role as meth dealer Jesse Pinkman on the hit TV series Breaking Bad - will head up the adaptation based around the popular computer game series.
The film will be helmed by Scott Waugh - who recently completed Act Of Valour - who will direct for Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks studio.
A spokesperson for the studio said the film will be "rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise.

The script is being written by John Gatins - an actor-turned-writer who penned the script for Hugh Jackman's Real Steel - and his brother George, producer of 2010's She's Out of My League.
Aaron has recently broken out onto the big screen, starring in indie film Smashed alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead star as a pair of married alcoholics whose relationship faces severe tests when she decides to go sober. He has also recently filmed Decoding Annie Parker and is also appearing in comedy drama A Long Way Down, filming now.
Need for Speed is set for release in 2014.
Breaking Bad season 5 airs on M-Net Series on Thursdays at 21:30.
