Afrikaans wedding movie receives international nomination

Johannessburg - United International Pictures and Light and Dark Films have announced that their independent movie Konfetti has earned a prestigious nomination at the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival in the category “Best Actress”.

Susan Gorrell, Senior Manager of the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival, last night announced that Casey B. Dolan has been selected among three candidates to compete for the coveted “Best Actress” award. The of?cial Film Festival kickoff typically awards the best of the fest with a red carpet reception and launch party that sets the tone for the weekend of ?lm celebration and exploration. The festival will run between the 23rd and the 27th of April 2014.
 
Casey B. Dolan commented: "I am always totally thrilled when South African projects are recognized internationally. The nomination is a wonderful celebration of a team effort to create a really special South African film. I am so grateful to both Zaheer and Louw for the opportunity to have played such a fabulous role and giving me the freedom to bring her (Sheryl) to life. I am a very happy actress right now!"

Director/Producer Zaheer Goodman-Bhyat added: "Casey and I were child actors together, and so it's a really special moment for me that she is finally getting the recognition she deserves for her talent. Her performance in Konfetti is breath-taking, and it is going to leave her fans very happy and introduce a whole new set of fans. I am really proud of her and of what we achieved together. Well done Casey! It's another strong reminder that we have world class talent in South Africa and can hold our heads high with the best in the world."

Konfetti releases nation-wide on 18 April 2014 and stars Louw Venter, Nico Panagio, Casey B. Dolan, Kim Engelbrecht, Casper de Vries, Christel van den Bergh, Terence Bridgett and Jana Strydom.
