London – It’s official Benedict Cumberbatch is hottest ticket of all time in London!
Benedict’s upcoming Shakespearean theatrical show in which he will star as Hamlet has become the most in demand theatrical show of all time in the UK.
According to ticket website Viagogo just hours before the tickets were released the show became the most searched for event with a 214% more ticket search than Jay Z and Beyonce’s On the Run tour.
Vanity Fair’s Joanna Robinson wrote that Viagogo went rather Shakespearean in a statement saying: “The tragedy has instead become the success story for theatre in 2015. But will Benedict be or not be a worthy Hamlet – that is the question.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter this is Benedict’s first return to stage since the 2011 National theatre production of Frankenstein in which he starred alongside Johnny Lee Miller.
Other actors who have recently taken on the role of Hamlet on stage include: David Tennant, Jude Law and Christian Camargo.
While filming the TV series To the Ends of the Earth in South Africa in 2000 Benedict and two co-stars were carjacked and held hostage. The trio were eventually released and found help at a truck spot.
Benedict revealed in an interview with The Mail last year that he still bears the scars of this traumatic experience.
