Los Angeles - Carey Mulligan has been cast in I Walk With the Dead.
The 26-year-old star will work alongside Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn in the film, a sex thriller which has been worked on for some time.
Details of the script are sparse, but it is unlikely to be shot until after the filmmaker, who confirmed the casting while promoting Drive, has completed work on Only God Forgives with Ryan Gosling, Kristin Scott Thomas and Luke Evans.
British-born Carey has a number of big movies coming up, including Drive and Shame, about the world of internet pornography, with Michael Fassbender.
Obsessive reading
She will also be starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Isla Fisher in The Great Gatsby, where she will play Daisy Buchanan.
After winning the role, Carey admitted she had been "obsessively reading" the original book by F Scott Fitzgerald.
She told BANG Showbiz: "I'm still in shock. It was the most surreal night of my life when I found out I'd got it.
"I'd auditioned twice and waited for a fortnight, and called my agent every two hours for two weeks. He almost sacked me!
"It was a huge shock and I can't believe I'm going to be working with the people I'm going to be working with. I have a copy of it by my bed that I'm obsessively reading."
