Chris Evans 'hated' Captain America

Los Angeles - Chris Evans' training for Captain America: The First Avenger left him "hating" the film.

The buff actor usually enjoys working out, but the punishing regime for his titular role in the superhero movie drove him to breaking point.

He told popsugar.com: "We did about four months. We did two hours a day, and it was brutal.

"I'd walk out and I'd be like, 'I need to vomit. I hate this trainer. I hate this movie. I want to go to sleep for a week.'

"It was just relentless."

Bigger muscles

The 30-year-old star also had to keep eating in order to get bigger muscles for the film, which he found the hardest part.

He added: "Working out sucked, eating sucked more. You get to a point where you just can't even look at another piece of chicken. "You're just so bloated, but you just have to keep consuming protein."

Chris eventually made it through training and now feels it was worth it, as he had plenty of fun shooting the film.

He said: "The fact is, no matter how long a list you could create of the negatives, the positives trump it. Just smoke it.

"I wear a shield, I get paid a lot of money to run around and play make believe. I'm not in the coal mines. I'm not flipping burgers. Life is great!"
