Chris Pratt for Jurassic World lead role?

Los Angeles - Chris Pratt may star in Jurassic World.

The rising Hollywood leading man - who will be the star of next year's Marvel superhero movie Guardians of the Galaxy - is in "early talks" to star in Colin Trevorrow's eagerly anticipated dinosaur movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pratt is being considered for the male lead role in the movie, playing a rugged ex-military man who develops a relationship with the already-cast Bryce Dallas Howard.

Labor Day star Josh Brolin was initially linked to the role, but it's thought his discussions with movie studio Universal didn't go very far.

Young cast

Young actors Ty Simpkins - best known for his role in Iron Man 3 - and Nick Robinson have also been cast in the blockbuster as the nephews of Howard's physicist character.

Trevorrow has reportedly been working "in tandem" with Jurassic Park executive producer Steven Spielberg to handpick the cast for the fourth instalment in the dinosaur series.

Known work

Pratt is best known for small parts in movies and TV shows including sitcom Parks and Recreation, however, he is on the verge of major Hollywood stardom with his role as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, which opens in August 2014.

The highly anticipated Marvel superhero movie will co-star Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Benicio del Toro and Vin Diesel.
