Danny DeVito gets Hollywood star

Los Angeles - Danny DeVito has been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Batman Returns star was hugely excited to receive the honour on Thursday, and pulled a number of comedy poses with his star before taking off his shoes and walking over it barefoot, to avoid dirtying it.

The 66-year-old actor was accompanied at the presentation ceremony - which also marks 40 years for him in Hollywood - by wife Rhea Perlman and their three children Lucy, 28, Grace, 26, and Jacob, 23.

He joked to E! News: "The question is, do I get to take this home or do we leave it here? Or do I move into this store over here, and every day I come and polish it?"

Danny also happily signed autographs for a number of fans.

The diminutive actor got his first break playing dispatcher Louie De Palma on TV series Taxi, which ran from 1978 to 1982, before moving onto films, appearing in a host of hits, including Romancing the Stone, Twins, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Wise Guys.

He has also directed several movies, including Throw Momma from the Train, and alongside his wife founded production company Jersey Films, which has generated movies such as Pulp Fiction and Garden State.

He currently stars in the FX comedy TV series It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, which starts its seventh season in September.

Danny's star was the 2 445th to be added to the Walk of Fame, and at the ceremony he was also presented with a much smaller framed version to take home.
