Cape Town – Coming of age thriller Four Corners has created quite a buzz after it was submitted as South Africa's official 2014 foreign-language entry for the Academy Awards. It has also been nominated for the Design Indaba's MBOISA (Most Beautiful Object in South Africa) Award.
The gritty, hard hitting crime thriller tells the story of a young chess prodigy who must defy the odds and stay one move ahead of the gangs in a game where losing can be the difference between life or death.
It takes a hard look at the reality that many teenagers face daily living on the Cape Flats.
We spoke to director, Ian Gabriel, about the creative process, the cast and the inspiration behind the story.
