Disney to release Star Wars Scene Maker app

Los Angeles  - Disney are releasing a Star Wars Scene Maker app which will allow children to take on the role of director.

Disney Publishing Worldwide executive VP Andrew Sugerman unveiled the plan at Variety's Purpose: The Family Entertainment and Faith-Based Summit at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills on Thursday  and explained that it will allow people to reimagine three iconic scenes from the Star Wars franchise.

He said: "The output of this is you're actually going to create a minute-long film."

Sugerman is excited about what the potential the app has.

He told Variety.com: "It's addictive in that what you can do is limitless."

Star Wars Scene Maker will be available from June 19.

Meanwhile, Harrison Ford was injured while filming the new Star Wars movie and was airlifted to hospital yesterdayafter he was crushed by a hydraulic door at the Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

Ford - who plays Han Solo in the Disney sci-fi franchise - will be taking some time off following the nasty accident in order to recuperate, but bosses insist filming for the movie, which is set for release in December 2015, will continue.
