Los Angeles – Dwayne Johnson was inspired to go into films by Indiana Jones.
The muscular actor – who has played a variety of roles in movies including The Scorpion King and Tooth Fairy – saw Harrison Ford as the Nazi-fighting hero at the age of eight and knew he wanted to work in films from then.
He said: "When I was eight years old, I watched Indiana Jones for the first time. I fell in love with movies then and I wanted to be that guy.
"I was a big fan of Harrison Ford when I was younger, so, even though he wasn't Arnold Schwarzenegger, he was still a guy who was able to kick ass and be charming and witty and be intelligent. So I loved that!"
Despite being inspired by an adventure film, he wanted to work in other genres following a number of action movies of his own.
He told Total Film: "I wanted the material that I wasn't getting. I wanted to represent my acting. I had been passing on my action material – just wasn't for me."
