Dwayne Johnson loves getting physical

Los Angeles – Dwayne Johnson says making action movies is in his "wiring".

The former wrestler – best known for his action roles in The Scorpion King and The Other Guys – admitted while he loves making all types of films, physically challenging roles are where he feels most comfortable.

Dwayne – who wrestled under the name The Rock – said: "It's my home and it's in my wiring and my makeup. I'm a physical guy and I love that. There's nothing like being physical and taking care of business that way.

"It's a great time in my career right now, it is important for me to find characters that I can lock into and who have a proficiency at hunting something down and taking care of business and snapping someone's f**king neck."

The muscular actor is excited about shooting his next movie Protection – a thriller about a Mexico City security operative who is forced to smuggle the daughter of a judge across the border while being followed by corrupt policemen, drug lords and American criminal forces – because it will allow him to develop his acting skills while staying with his action roots.

He added to Collider.com: "It's being developed right now, it looks like we'll go to Mexico and then shoot that next. That's a special project. I can appreciate the green scene and dazzling special effects but I also appreciate that grounded rooted reality of a broken man who wants to get better but where I can also grab someone by the throat and break their neck."
