Los Angeles - Scott Eastwood has signed up to star in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.
The 25-year-old actor will play the male lead, Carl, in the reboot of the classic horror movie alongside Percy Jackson star Alexandria Daddario and former Lost actress Tania Raymonde.
Alexandria's character is reported to be a dark and disturbed, but generally "good" woman named Heather, whose ambiguous connections to the murders prompt her to investigate.
Trilogy
The movie - which is expected to form part of a trilogy - will be directed by John Luessenhop, produced by Carl Mazzocone and exec produced by Avi Lerner and Mark Burg.
The new film will continue on from Tobe Hooper's 1973 original, picking up the character of Leatherface/Jeb Sawyer decades later and will see the authorities and some angry townspeople ambushing the Sawyer home - where Jeb Stuart is accused of carrying out his butchering.
After a mob throws a flaming cocktail into the Sawyer home, burning the place and its residents - supposedly including Jeb - to the ground, the entire town is shocked when the murders suddenly start up again.
Scott - also known as Scott Clinton Reeves - is the son of legendary actor Clint Eastwood from his relationship with flight attendant Kathryn Reeves and has previously appeared in his father's movies Invictus and Gran Torino.
