Los Angeles - Elizabeth Banks has joined the cast of Magic Mike XXL.
The Hunger Games star has signed up to appear alongside newly announced cast mates Jada Pinkett Smith and Andie MacDowell in the stripper comedy sequel, though her role in the movie is yet to be announced.
The 40-year-old actress will also join returning stars Channing Tatum - who is co-writing and producing the movie - Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer in the film, as well as Alex Pettyfer, who was recently reported to have inked a deal to reprise his role from the 2012 box office hit.
The casting news comes shortly after it was confirmed Oscar-winning star Matthew McConaughey will not be returning as money-grabbing club boss Dallas.
It had previously been speculated the Dallas Buyers Club star wouldn't be in the film because of his escalating fee in the wake of his success during awards season, though it is also said to be unclear how his character could fit in with the road trip theme of the sequel.
Also set to appear in the film are recently announced cast members Community star Donald Glover and retired American footballer Michael Strahan.
Magic Mike XXL is scheduled for release next summer.
