Los Angeles - Woody Allen has cast Emma Stone in his next film.
It seems the filmmaker has found a new muse in The Amazing Spider-Man actress, approaching her for a role in his as yet untitled upcoming project before their current movie Magic in the Moonlight has even been released.
Allen has also tapped Joaquin Phoenix for the mystery film, which he is expected to write, direct and produce for a July start date, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The notoriously secretive director is famed for becoming attached to stars including Scarlett Johansson and Dianne Wiest, casting them in several of his films in the past.
Stone is currently promoting her new superhero movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which stars her real-life boyfriend Andrew Garfield.
The 25-year-old actress will next be seen opposite Colin Firth in Allen's romantic comedy Magic in the Moonlight, which is due out this July.
The plot focuses on an Englishman in 1920s France who gets roped into uncovering a possible swindle.
Allen's last film Blue Jasmine landed Cate Blanchett a lead actress Oscar and Sally Hawkins a best supporting actress nomination.
