Faan Se Trein scores big at the box office

Cape Town - South African film, Faan Se Trein, scored big at the local box-office this past weekend. Opening on R1.4m with roughly 32 000 people buying  a ticket, according to Ster Kinekor Entertainment.

It was the biggest of all new movies opening this weekend and did better than international titles like The Book Thief, Grudge Match and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.

Faan Se Trein opened at number 2 on the local Top 10, just behind  The Wolf of Wall Street starring Leonardo DiCaprio . The movie also opened better than recent Afrikaans dramas Die Wonderwerker and Verraaiers on opening weekend.

received 9 KykNet Silwerskerm Festival awards including Best Picture and Best Actor award for Willie Esterhuizen.

Faan Se Trein is currently showing at cinemas nationwide.
