Fifty Shades won't be significant for Dakota Johnson

Los Angeles  - Don Johnson thinks Fifty Shades of Grey will be a "blip" on Dakota Johnson's career.

The 65-year-old actor is proud of his daughter's acting talents and despite her having the lead role in the much-hyped adaptation of E. L. James' raunchy novel, he doesn't think it will be seen as particularly important in the long term.

He said: "It will be a blip on her career, because she's going to be a significant actress for many years to come."

The Cold in July actor also admitted he isn't interested in reading the book the movie will be based on.

He told The Times newspaper: "I wouldn't read that. I read The Story of O in the sixties and that pretty much covered it."

Don became a household name after starring in Miami Vice and is proud of the way the show changed television programmes.

He said: "We didn't just revolutionise television, we contemporised it.

"We all came from an independent film-making background and we brought that sensibility to the show, with danger and violence, and the image of these two undercover cops as the only thing standing between this massive flow of drugs and the city."
