Final Breaking Dawn trailer debuts

Cape Town – Kristen Stewart may have decided to skip the party, but that didn't stop her Twilight Saga co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner from unveiling the newest – and final – trailer for Breaking Dawn Part 2 at the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday night.

Robert and Taylor took the stage at Staples Centre in Los Angeles with fellow castmates Elizabeth Reaser, Peter Facinelli and Jackson Rathbone to premiere the new clip, which reveals more of Kristen's character Bella Cullen (formally Swan) as a newborn vampire.

"My time as a human is over, but I've never felt more alive", Bella intones in the new 84-second clip as we see her character make the most of her new powers, leaping from mountaintops and chasing after her prey in the woods.

We also get another look at Bella and Edward's daughter Renesmee (played by 11-year-old newcomer Mackenzie Foy), who is accused of being an "immortal child" and hunted by the power-hungry Volturi coven. To protect their family, the Cullens enlist the help of other vampire covens and the werewolf pack, led by Jacob Black.

The trailer climaxes as the Cullens and their allies wage all-out war against the Cullens on a snow-laden battlefield.

Kristen decided to skip the VMAs and walk the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival instead for the premiere of her other new movie On the Road.

Her absence from the star-studded music awards did not go unnoticed, as VMAs host Kevin Hart addressed the "elephant in the room" and urged the public to forgive Kristen for her highly publicised affair with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, who is married with two young kids.

The final Twilight movie is set for a worldwide release by Summit Entertainment on 16 November.
