Cape Town - A new four-minute preview of the new Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield, has been released online.

The Amazing Spider-Man sees Peter Parker as a teenager still in high school. Raised by his aunt May (Sally Field) and uncle Ben (Martin Sheen), Peter is haunted by memories of his deceased parents and the connection their death has on his superhero abilities.

He meets Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), an Oscorp scientist – and the villain The Lizard – who was his father’s partner.

Peter falls in love with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) whose father George (Denis Leary) is also captain in the New York Police Department.

Directed by Marc Webb, this is the first Spider-Man film since the conclusion of Sam Raimi’s trilogy, in which Tobey Maguire played the web-spinning hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man is released in South Africa on 6 July, and in US cinemas on 3 July, just in time for the fourth of July holidays.
