Cape Town - A new four-minute preview of the new Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield, has been released online.

The Amazing Spider-Man sees Peter Parker as a teenager still in high school. Raised by his aunt May (Sally Field) and uncle Ben (Martin Sheen), Peter is haunted by memories of his deceased parents and the connection their death has on his superhero abilities.

He meets Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), an Oscorp scientist – and the villain The Lizard – who was his father’s partner.

Peter falls in love with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) whose father George (Denis Leary) is also captain in the New York Police Department.

Directed by Marc Webb, this is the first Spider-Man film since the conclusion of Sam Raimi’s trilogy, in which Tobey Maguire played the web-spinning hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man is released in South Africa on 6 July, and in US cinemas on 3 July, just in time for the fourth of July holidays.

it looks good but what makes me hesitate to say it looks awesome is the fact that they did not use the original acters from the previous Spiderman films, why make a sequel and not use the acters that made it interesting to watch the first time around.

Its not a sequel. They are rebooting the series plus this story will be much more closer to Spidey's origin story than the first trilogy was. For example Mary-Jane(Kirsten Dunst) only came into the comic books as a romantic interest to Peter a few years into the story.
