First look: Man of Steel trailer

Cape Town - The first teaser trailer for Superman reboot Man of Steel has been released, showing British actor Henry Cavill take to the skies in the iconic red and blue costume.

Superman was last seen on the big screen in Bryan Singer's uneven 2006 blockbuster Superman Returns, with Brandon Routh as bespectacled journalist Clark Kent and his super-strong alter ego Superman.

Man of Steel
is directed by Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch, 300) and also stars Russell Crowe as Superman's father Jor-El from his home planet Krypton, Amy Adams as love interest Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as villain General Zod.

Kevin Costner and Diane Lane play earth-bound Clark Kent's adoptive parents Jonathan and Martha Kent.

Costner narrates the 90-second clip which shows a lonely and bearded Clark working on board a fishing boat, telling his son he is not just anyone and that one day he will "have to make choice" about the man he wants to be.

Man of Steel is produced by The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan, who also co-wrote the screenplay.

The teaser trailer premiered at Comic-Con earlier this month and extended for theatrical release as it is showing before screenings of The Dark Knight Rises in the US.

Man of Steel is set for release on 14 June 2013. Check out their official Facebook page here.

And Hollywood shows off their scientific intellect again, with not 1, not 2, but 3 sonic booms!

And Don't forget the vapor trails from 2 X Jet Engines

Ok, so what you guys are saying then is that the flying man is believable, but how on earth can he produce 3 sonic booms and not just the one like a normal man!!!! As for the two jet engines, maybe he sneezed and farted at the same time!! It's Superman for Petes sake!

If the object ceases to travel at supersonic speed, the sonic boom will cease... i.e. if it travels 'around about' supersonic speed, it may well cause multiple sonic boom. It is only if it continues to accelerate past supersonic speed that it will 'seem' to create one sonic boom. Please don't insult Zach Snyder or for that matter science, you clearly don't know what you're talking about. Now go find a pretty girl to take to the premier next year, you have a year in which to achieve this. Unlikely sure, but don't give up.

Hope it's better than the previous Superman movie.
