First look: The Expendables 2 trailer

Cape Town – The latest full-length trailer for The Expendables 2 has been released, with an introduction from the movie's star and co-writer, Sylvester Stallone himself.

The star-studded sequel brings together the team of mercenaries, led by Stallone's Barney Ross, and including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture.

The plot of the movie gets a little lost amongst all the explosions, jungle gun fights and zip-lining, but seems to involve Mr Church (Bruce Willis) recruiting the team, which he refers to as a "psychotic gang of mutts", to take down Jean Vilain (played by Jean-Claude Van Damme) who is after a massive payload of plutonium.

When the threat appears to be insurmountable, Barney has to bring in even bigger guns, in the form of Chuck Norris as Booker, and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Trench, who helpfully declares "I'm back!" in the trailer.

Also joining the team is a new female member Maggie, played by Chinese actress Nan Yu and young gun The Kid, played by The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth.

The Expendables 2 is due for release in South Africa on 24 August.
