Harrison Ford joins Anchorman 2

Los Angeles - Harrison Ford has signed up for Anchorman: The Legend Continues.

The 70-year-old star will portray a legendary newscaster in the follow-up to 2004 comedy movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, which will also see him join fellow franchise newcomer Kristen Wiig alongside returning stars Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harrison's alter-ego is said to be similar to NBC's Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw.

Star Wars sequel

It will not be the first time he has portrayed an anchorman after taking on such a role in 2010 comedy movie Morning Glory, which also starred Diane Keaton and Rachel McAdams and was produced by JJ Abrams and Bryan Burk.

Harrison looks set to have a busy few years, which will see him work with JJ again after it was recently reported he is to reprise his role as Han Solo in the forthcoming Star Wars sequel.

The actor played the character in the original Star Wars trilogy between 1977 and 1983 along with Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.

Latino Review editor El Mayimbe said last month: "He is officially coming back as Han Solo.

"His deal is done. It's just formalities right now. They haven't really announced it yet. That's the big one right now."
