Harrison Ford wants Indiana Jones 5

Los Angeles - Harrison Ford is hopeful for Indiana Jones 5.

The 71-year-old actor - who last played the adventurer in 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - wants to reprise his famous role a fifth time and believes he can still portray the character's "courage" and "wit".

Ford told The Daily Telegraph newspaper: "To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do."

Although Frank Marshall - who co-produced the films with George Lucas - downplayed the likelihood of a fifth movie months ago, Ford is convinced there is enough scope for the character to return in a new movie

He explained: "We've seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it's perfectly appropriate and okay for him to come back again with a great movie around him, where he doesn't necessarily have to kick as much ass."

The A-lister has a busy couple of years ahead with roles in upcoming fantasy film Ender's Game and thriller Paranoia.

Ford is also set to reprise another famous role after signing up to play Han Solo in J.J. Abrams' eagerly anticipated Star Wars Episode VII.

The Expendables producer, writer and star Sylvester Stallone recently indicated that the veteran actor will join the third instalment in the action franchise, replacing Bruce Willis.
