Hugh Jackman stalker freed from New York jail

New York — A US woman who admitted stalking Hugh Jackman has been released after a guilty plea and months in jail in New York City.

Katherine Thurston was freed on Wednesday, although she's due back in court on Thursday to work out probation details.

The woman was arrested last April. Police said she followed the X-Men star into a Manhattan gym where he was working out, pulled out a hair-filled razor and threw it at him. He wasn't injured.

Court records show Thurston pleaded guilty earlier this month to stalking, harassment and burglary. She was sentenced to six months in jail, which she'd already served, and five years' probation.

Defence lawyer Liz Beal says Thurston aims to go back to California and see her family.

Jackman's publicist had no immediate comment.
