Los Angeles - Idris Elba's girlfriend has given birth to a baby boy.
The 41-year-old actor, who recently played the late Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, and his make-up artist partner Naiyana
Garth welcomed their first child, Winston Elba, into the world on
Thursday.
The The Wire star announced the news on
Twitter on Friday, tweeting: "My son, Winston Elba, was born
yesterday. Truly amazing."
The British actor also shared a photograph of his baby's tiny hand clutching his finger.
The Golden Globe winner already has an 11-year-old daughter, Isan, with his ex-wife Dormowa Sherma.
Idris and Naiyana started dating in March 2013 and sources confirmed in
November that she was pregnant, shortly after they went public with
their romance at the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year awards in London.
A source said at the time: "They've been together for a few months but
it's really ramped up recently. They get on brilliantly and she's a
real hit with his family and friends. Idris is known as a ladies' man
but he's really not at all. He'd rather have banter at the bar than
spend all night grafting on women. Although he doesn't have to try
anyway, women flock to him."
