Iron Man 3 trailer debuts

Cape Town - Marvel has released the first full-length trailer for their flagship movie franchise Iron Man 3, which sees Robert Downey Jr return in a new suit of armour as playboy billionaire Tony Stark and his superhero alter ego.

The new trailer takes on a very dark tone as Tony regretfully intones that he has "a lot of apologies to make" and confesses that he has nightmares as he worries about the "100 people" who are out to kill him.

A new villain is introduced, The Mandarin, played by Ben Kinglsey, who declares that "Heroes… there is no such thing", as he obliterates Tony's seaside mansion, injuring Tony and his assistant/lover Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) in the process.

Official synopsis

Marvel have also released a teaser poster and the following mysterious synopsis for the threequel, which hints that Tony will travel to China to face Mandarin:

"Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?"
