Los Angeles - Jean-Claude Van Damme wants to appear in The Avengers 2.

The Expendables 2 star was happy to learn that Chris Hemsworth - who plays Thor in the Marvel series - wanted him to land a role in the forthcoming comic book caper and admitted he has always been a fan of the franchise and its former president and chairman Stan Lee.

He wrote on Facebook: "It was my pleasure to meet Mr Stan Lee back in 1994, along with Mr Samuel & Mr Victor Hadida.

"I read that Chris Hemsworth (Thor) would like me to co-star in The Avengers 2 movie! Well, it would be fun to play one of these types of amazing comic book characters again."

The 52-year-old actor went on to suggest a number of comic book characters he'd like to be considered for, both within the Marvel world and from other comic books.

He added: "By the way, I am a big fan of Marvel's superhero Silver Surfer and also another heroic fictional character known as Doc Savage - the Man of Bronze!"

He later wrote: "I see many of you are talking about 'Iron Fist'. Sure, that's one DAMME cool character too! (sic)"

The Avengers 2 is scheduled for release on 1 May 2015. publishes all comments posted on articles provided that they adhere to our Comments Policy. Should you wish to report a comment for editorial review, please do so by clicking the 'Report Comment' button to the right of each comment.
